AI Usage Policy

Linguenta uses artificial intelligence to power its core learning features. This AI Usage Policy explains what AI is used for, how it works, what data is sent to AI providers, and what you should expect from AI-generated content. By using AI features on Linguenta, you acknowledge and accept the practices described in this policy.

AI is used in the following features: Conversation Practice: An AI tutor simulates realistic conversations in English across various scenarios. Grammar Exercises: AI generates grammar questions, explanations, and corrections. Writing Coach: AI analyses your writing for grammar, vocabulary, structure, and coherence, and provides detailed feedback. Vocabulary Learning: AI helps generate context sentences, definitions, and practice exercises for vocabulary. Pronunciation Scoring: Your speech is transcribed and analysed using AI-assisted scoring for accuracy, fluency, and intonation. AI Coach: A personalised AI assistant that provides learning tips, progress analysis, and goal-setting support. CEFR Assessment: AI evaluates your English level across multiple skills to assign a CEFR level (A1–C2).

We use the following third-party AI services: OpenAI: Used for text-based AI features (conversation, grammar, writing, vocabulary, AI Coach). Text you submit is sent to OpenAI's API to generate responses. Deepgram: Used for speech-to-text transcription and pronunciation scoring. Audio you submit is processed by Deepgram's API. ElevenLabs: Used for AI-generated voice responses in conversation and other audio features. These providers process data under our agreements with them. We have selected providers that do not use your data to train their models for purposes outside our application.

Text Features (OpenAI): The text you type or submit in conversation, grammar, writing, or AI Coach sessions is sent to OpenAI to generate educational responses. This includes your questions, answers, and writing samples. Voice Features (Deepgram): Audio you record for pronunciation practice is sent to Deepgram for transcription and analysis. The audio file itself is not permanently stored by us after processing. Voice Responses (ElevenLabs): Text scripts for AI tutor voice responses are sent to ElevenLabs to generate audio. These do not contain your personal data. We do not send payment information, passwords, or other sensitive personal data to AI providers.

We have configured our AI provider integrations to minimise data retention: — Full conversation text is not permanently stored on our servers — Audio recordings are deleted after processing — Only educational outcomes (scores, summaries, progress) are stored in your account For the specific data retention practices of our AI providers, refer to their respective privacy policies: — OpenAI: https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy — Deepgram: https://deepgram.com/privacy — ElevenLabs: https://elevenlabs.io/privacy

AI-generated content may be inaccurate, outdated, biased, or incomplete. Specifically: — Grammar corrections may occasionally be wrong or reflect one dialect over another — Pronunciation scoring is approximate and may vary across accents — Writing feedback is general guidance, not professional editing — Conversation responses are generated for educational purposes only — AI Coach advice is not a substitute for professional tutoring You should apply your own judgement to AI feedback and not rely on it for high-stakes decisions.

Linguenta does not use your personal data, conversations, voice recordings, or learning content to train its own AI models. We have data processing agreements with our AI providers that restrict the use of data we send to them. Your data is processed to generate educational outputs and is not used by those providers to train their general-purpose models.

We instruct our AI systems to: — Remain on-topic for language learning — Avoid generating harmful, offensive, or politically extreme content — Decline requests that are outside the scope of language learning Despite these guardrails, AI systems can occasionally generate unexpected or inappropriate responses. If you encounter such content, please report it via the Help/Support section of your Profile.

When using AI features, you agree not to: — Submit content designed to "jailbreak" or bypass AI safety guidelines — Use AI features to generate harmful, deceptive, or illegal content — Submit other people's personal data without their consent — Use AI outputs in ways that could mislead others Misuse of AI features may result in account suspension.
